Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Queen Mother’s Hospital, Glasgow

 SUMMARY

The distribution of urethral flora has been studied in 30 women, using a new instrument. The results show that significant quantities (>5 colonies) of potential pathogens can be demonstrated in 90% (27) of the patients at the meatus and in only 10% (3) of patients above the midurethral high pressure zone.
